Barum played against a touring team from Old Halesonians in the West Midlands on Saturday. Barum fielded a much changed team from their semi-final last week and despite this put in a dominant performance. The tourists kept pace with Barum for the first quarter of the game but Barum were too strong across the pitch rucking well and using the width of the pitch to great advantage. The half time score was 24-14 and Barum kept up the pace to finish the game 41-14 to the good.
This was a very positive performance which once again demonstrates the strength in depth of the U14s squad. The really pleasing point was that all the seven tries were scored by the backs: five by the wingers including a try in his Barum debut for Conrad Hall, two well finished tries from Matt Morrish
, two from Tom Clark
one of which was a well executed backs move instigated by Joe Bond
at fly half; and two others from full back Matt Symons. Conversions were added by Will Knill
and Symons (2).
Old Halesonians were excellent oppoonents and we hope they enjoyed their tour to north Devon.
