A first half hat-trick from wing Tom Clark seals victory for Barum
Barum played against a touring team Newport High School Old Boys (HSOB) from South Wales on Saturday. Barum used the opportunity to give the whole squad game time and despite this they put in a dominant performance. Barum got off to a strong start when a determined run in midfield saw Luke Harris power over under the posts despite the attentions of several would be tacklers. Barum pushed on from there and they continued to apply pressure and winning good quick possession they used the width of the pitch effectively which resulted in a very well executed hat-trick in the first half from wing Tom Clark. Two conversions were added by Will Knill. The tourists scored a converted try in the first half and the half time score was 24-7. The second half was much more even but the introduction of fresh legs resulted in two further tries through Matthew Symons, who converted one. Newport scored a consolation try just before the final whistle and the final score was 36-14, another positive performance from the whole squad.
