Barnstaple arrived on the Friday afternoon checked into their accommodation and went off to an evening floodlit game.
Barnstaple left the changing rooms a little relaxed about the game however after the home sides support was extremely vocal in the stadium and in the tunnel it all of a sudden turned into a game between France and England and seemed to have a lot of meaning to the game.
Barum shot out of the blocks and were up half time by 38 points to 12 with some brilliant running rugby being played by all 15 players.
Barum made nine changes so all on tour played at least half a game.
The second half score ended up being 14 points to Barum and 12 points to Castanet making the end result 52 points to 24 a great first result.
The try scorers were Ben Vellacott 2 tries, Sam Roach, Josh Beech, Scott Warren, Charlie Elliott, Ben Ward and Iwan Williams adding the singles.
With Ben Vellacott adding four conversions and Lewis Goss adding two.
After the game Barnstaple`s hosts gave Barum a run for there money in the singing stakes with both sides singing there own sets of songs all in great spirit in the clubhouse.
When Barum left the stadium the French players applauded the Barnstaple players onto the coach which was a brilliant bit of sportsmanship that we should learn a lot from as players, coaches and supporters when hosting other clubs.
