Whilst the Devon second string were struggling down at Torquay a Barnstaple under 16 side that included Jacob Nash, Bradley Drew Liam Elliss and Theo Seel-Kent were making light work of a spirited Collumpton side.
The visitors started a little slowly and it took a great line break from Michael Taylor to open the scoring with Jordan Petherbridge adding the 2 extra.
The Barum lads then played some great rugby as they worked patiently through phase after phase until Ryan Dart picked up from the base of a ruck and forced his way over from 10 yards out.
Next Barnstaple had a super 5 minute spell with a great cameo performance from Liam Elliss who for the second week running showed his strength and awareness to bag himself a couple of tries.
Not to be outdone Jacob Nash scored the next 2, one of which Elliss stepped up and converted, to give a 34 points to nil lead at the break.
After the turn around Barnstaple hit top gear and some sweet handling and great pace by the backs allowed Ethan Paddon to in the corner, Nash missed the conversion but was quick at the restart and after letting his forwards rumble up field he darted down the blind to complete his hatrick.
Having come on as a half time replacement Josh Simpkins showed what a great find he is as he worked well in the loose and then touched down for a try of his own, kicking duties had now passed to front row forward Kieron Morgan who duly slotted the 2 points.
Showing clinical decision making and a combined effort from 1 to 15 the Young Barum side were ruthless with the next score, the forwards had driven up field again and worked some good mauls to reach the home sides 22 when Nash took the ball from the back of a ruck and throw a lovely pass into the the onrushing Theo Seel-Kent , who was doing a very credible impression of a runaway train, and he forced his way through the defence making them look like paper, Kieron Morgan added 2 more.
The final try of the game was from the backs as a kick and chase left Colly in a bit of disarray so Sean Davies barged through then kicked a head and run the footrace to touch down, Morgan "the boot" stepped up an kicked his 3rd conversion of the day to give a final score of 65 points to nil.
The whole squad played well but special mention goes to Max Banbury who was making his first start at openside, after trying a number of other positions, and put in some great work on the floor.
Next week we play Taunton at home and will have the lads back from the County so selection will be interesting as nobody wants to break up a winning side!
