SUPER 8!
MAGNIFICENT 7 WIN AGAIN
As the new season approaches the Diamonds faced a new look North Walkden side. The drama started before a ball was struck as it was announced that they would be playing without any substitutes as Leech, Genty, Healey and Chadwick were all unavailable.
The drama may have started but we did not have to wait too long for the action as Lee scored the first goal within twenty seconds after kick-off!
SCORE: BARR HILL 1 - WALKDEN 0
Walkden remained determined and made life difficult for Diamonds infront of goal. The pass and move style was difficult for Barr Hill on the long grass but soon got to grips with the surface and it was only a matter of time before a second was added. It came from the always dependable Tapusoa after good link up play with Lee and captain for the day Wilde.
SCORE: BARR HILL 2 - WALKDEN 0
Never to rest on their laurels, the Diamonds soon made it 3 before the interval with Lee the scorer again. Walkden never gave in but seemed releaved to hear the half time whistle.
HALF TIME
Straight from kick off Walkden showed good determination and despite being a new team kept a good spirit but they soon found themselves conceding again after Parry's impressive surge forward found him releasing the ball to skipper Wilde for an impressive fourth.
SCORE: BARR HILL 4 - WALKDEN 0
By now, the passing and overlaps were happening with a little more frequency and if it were not for an impressive string of saves from Walkden's keeper, it would easily have been number 5 soon after. However, he could not keep on performing such heroics and a not to be left out Burgess eventually found himself on the score sheet after some tireless work throughout the game.
SCORE: BARR HILL 5 - WALKDEN 0
Another week and another hat trick, this time it was Lee who continues to show his predetory instincts, once again after some great play in midfield and the usual power house display from Richmons.
SCORE: BARR HILL 6 - WALKDEN 0
Why have one hat-trick hero when you can have two? The fantastic Tapusoa made sure that he had a slice of the headline as he scored the next 2 goals after more excellent team work from the now rather tired players.
There was just enough time for the impressive Wilde to crack another shot but only to see it rattle the woodwork just before the final whistle!
FULL TIME, FINAL SCORE: BARR HILL 8 - WALKDEN 0
An incredible display against a spirited opposition who will surely improve after their gutsy display. But they faced a team who are now starting to hit true form - at just the right time!
