Crucial week for the Riversiders

As the football season enters the final few weeks of the season, Barrow Town face two crucial games that will ultimately shape their 2011/12 campaign.

Whilst the heroics of this seasons FA Cup run will live long in the memory of players and supporters alike, the sides league form during that period put paid to any realistic hopes of promotion. Three defeats in quick succession with minds elsewhere against Holbrook Sports, Ibstock United and Bardon Hill back in October left the Riversiders with far too much to do - confirmed by the two recent back to back defeats in March which ended any glimmer of hope.

However with six weeks of the season remaining, an EMC League Cup Quarter Final against Holbrook on Tuesday gives the Riversiders some hope of ending the season with some silverware, along with a looming Loughborough Charity Cup tie with Loughborough Dynamo on a date yet to be confirmed.

In the league, the Riversiders will hope to emulate last seasons fifth placed finish which was the Clubs highest ever placing in the football pyramid. Sat one point behind fourth placed St Andrews, the Leicester side will visit Riverside Park on Saturday knowing that defeat would see the Riversiders leapfrog them for the first time this season in to the top four with seven games left to play.

Both sides need to be wary of Holbrook however, who have steadily climbed the table in to sixth - and have arguably the easiest run in of all the sides after their recent tough run.

Tuesdays game at Riverside Park kicks off at 7.45pm, whilst the clash against St Andrew begins at 3pm on Saturday.
