Vale Schools future Under 15 County squad selection
Firstly, can we say what a pleasure it has been for us to coach all the boys over the last 3 months, or so. They have worked very hard and have shown great commitment. We sincerely hope that they have enjoyed the experience and have got something out of it.
It is important to note that our selection has been based on the training sessions as well as the game time. Our focus was around four key components:
Technical
Tactical
Physical
Mental
The following players have been selected from BFRC for summer training in respect of the future Vale Schools U15 County squad to compete in the Dewar Shield Schools competition.
Forwards
David Smith
Davin Stanton
Iwan Baker
Tom Winter
James Scott
Scott Griffith
Backs
Lloyd James
Callum Mickelsen
Cameron Gibbon
This is not a “closed” squad.
We have emphasised throughout this process that any player outside of this summer training squad or indeed who were outside the development squad, still have the opportunity next season, through Club and school games, to force their way in, at a later date. There are also injuries and unavailabilities to consider.
Matthew Silva, the Vale Rugby Development Officer, will continue to watch games and monitor players he is also happy to consider recommendations from coaches, on players, if they feel they have made improvements that would merit further consideration.
We will be in touch regarding the plans for summer training, for the above squad, over the next few weeks.
