Barry Ladies Entertain Treorchy
Barry Ladies RFC: Bombettes face Treorchy .
ON ANOTHER wet and windy day Barry Ladies RFC faced their second league fixture of the season against Treorchy. With both teams struggling for numbers for various reasons, it was only ever going to be a 12 a side match.
Treorchy won the toss and opted to play into the wind. Despite this they managed to break through ‘The Bombettes’ defence to score a try. Barry upped their defence and showed fantastic commitment with their tackling, even making the Treorchy try line on a couple of occasions. Despite this Treorchy broke the line again and managed to score a further two tries in the first half.
‘The Bombettes’ came back out with determination and their defence was second to none with outstanding rucking and committed tackling from all. Treorchy managed to get the ball to their wing who ran straight through. Barry had no legs to match despite chasing to the try line. Barry kept up the defence and kept Treorchy on the half way line for the majority of the second half.
In the last two minutes Treorchy got a lucky break with the wind taking the ball from Barry, resulting in a try. Final score 29-0 to Treorchy.
As a developmental side ‘The Bombettes’ have a number of positives to take from the match and build on.
Team: Captain – Rebecca (Ribs), Sam, Megan, Angela, Tara, Lynsey, Nikki, Kim, Lynsey R, Hannah, Ceri and Beth .
Player of the match went to Kim Kimothy Jones who played an outstanding game.
