Ladies and Girls' Football

Barry Town United AFC is proud to confirm and announce our official merger with Vale Ladies and Girls Football Club.

The merger will see over 230 girls joining our structure, with teams running at each and every age group from under 9 up to our female development and senior sides.

We believe that this will bring exciting opportunities for female football at all levels in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Luke Williams, Chairman of Vale Ladies and Girls Football Club commented “I am absolutely in no doubt that this move will only be of huge benefit in taking our current setup to the next level.

"In our brief four years we have dared to be different, trying new approaches to get more girls into the game and have become the biggest junior girls club in Wales.

"Ultimately, very little will change with the merger, the same people that have been instrumental in the Vale successes will be continuing their roles under the Barry Town banner.

"The Barry Town brand will give us better opportunities to develop as a club, sharing similar aspirations to the male and disability section in place at Jenner Park.

"We are extremely excited about our future and are dedicated as ever to taking our club to the top of the female game in Wales".

Eric Thomas, Chairman of Barry Town United commented “We have enjoyed a positive relationship with Vale Ladies and Girls FC over recent years and I am delighted this has resulted in our formal coming together.

"Both clubs' visions are aligned, we’re excited to continue to build on their excellent reputation in the female game and making a big impact on female football in Wales".

Gavin Chesterfield, First Team Manager at Barry Town United added “I’m delighted to welcome Vale Ladies and Girls fully into the Barry Town United family.

"This builds upon our commitment to providing football for all in the Vale, as we continue to build our presence in the community.

"Next season will see us have over 650 participants at the club ranging from minis, juniors, females and pan-disability sides to our new UEFA Academy, as well as our male section.

"These are very much exciting times to be involved with our club".
