Barry Town United are proud to be associated with Barry's own World featherweight boxing champion Lee Selby and our players will proud sporting the 'Team Selby' logo throughout this season.
Growing up in Barry en route to his professional debut in 2008, Selby has won bouts at the Liverpool Olympia, Belfast's Odyssey Arena and the famous York Hall in London; before moving up to the grand stage of the English capital's o2 Arena.
It was there in 2015 that this proud son of Barry snared World Championship gold; before returning to his hometown for a deserved hero's welcome.
2014 saw Selby (pictured in his Barry shirt) cement local hero status with two victories at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.
However, Lee once again made time to support his hometown team against the Bluebirds in pre-season; leading the sides out in torrential rain at Jenner Park that year, while showcasing his slew of title belts to the Barry crowd.
In 2013, Lee was joined by brother and stand-out amateur flyweight Andrew Selby; a world number one in his weight class, European Champion and 'Team GB' pugilist in the 2012 Olympics.
While Andrew was recovering from his participation in the Commonwealth Games in August 2014, we were delighted to host him the previous July; and as fervent members of Team Selby, we hope to welcome Barry's boxing brothers back to Jenner Park in the near future.
