The club is delighted to announce that for the 2016/2017 season. Barry Town United will be applying for UEFA Academy status.
In its first phase, the academy will comprise of under 10s, under 12s, under 14s, under 16s and a senior academy development team.
Proudly, these five teams will compete within the FAW Academy games programme and will be based at our home ground Jenner Park, playing against the likes of Merthyr Town, Port Talbot Town and other well established Welsh Premier League opposition.
In offering further opportunities, through our existing networks we also anticipate additional friendly fixtures against professional opposition, furthering the playing experience.
The club will host open trials during late May/early June in the hope of attracting the most talented players from Barry and the Vale.
Should you require any further information and wish to register an interest, please contact club secretary David Cole on email@example.com.
Those children successful will receive weekly coaching from UEFA A and B licensed coaches, including specialised goalkeeper training.
In addition to our academy we will continue with our strong presence in our local community with teams running at every age group from under 5s to under 16s in the Vale of Glamorgan league.
In relation to this all children, regardless of club, players will be free to play for both our academy and their respective Vale of Glamorgan league team on a Saturday.
Manager Gavin Chesterfield commented "This exciting development has been a long time in the making.
