Manager Gavin Chesterfield was in a contemplative mood following his squad’s first game in the JD Welsh Premier League.
Quizzed on the hotly-debated Aberystwyth Town equaliser that denied his team an opening victory, the Barry boss adopted a matter-of-fact approach, stating “If the referee’s got it right, then credit to him”.
“If he hasn’t, it doesn’t really matter, because the goal’s been given. We’ve got to take our medicine and look ahead now”.
Reflecting on Sunday night's 1-1 draw at Jenner Park, Chesterfield called the televised outing a good day for the club, while offering some positive words for his pair of starting debutants, who combined effectively for Barry's opening goal.
“Ryan (Newman) gave us a lot of energy in midfield and Kayne (McLaggon) gave us a lot of nous up front”.
Meanwhile, fan favourite Luke Cooper commented on the fixture being a “tough test” for his team.
“They (Aberystwyth) were very physical, but we dealt with it and dug deep for each other”.
