“Having spoken with Ceri at length surrounding his ideas for the academy, I'm genuinely excited for the season ahead”
As preparations begin for our second season within the FAW Academy structure, Barry Town United are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Ceri Bowley as the club's new Head of Youth.
Ceri is a UEFA A licensed coach with a PhD in Sport Psychology and brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has worked at both senior and youth levels of the game and brings with him an excellent knowledge of player development. Allied to this, Ceri has a background of coach development and mentoring which further underlines his suitability for this position.
Commenting on the appointment, Barry manager Gavin Chesterfield said: "I'm delighted to bring Ceri to the club. He's someone I've worked closely with in recent times and with his skill set, he will really strengthen our academy set-up and, ultimately, the whole club.
"With an explicit football curriculum and philosophy in place throughout the club, a substantial part of Ceri's role will see him work closely will all involved to ensure smooth delivery of the curriculum - and that players and coaches are part of a thriving football environment.
"Having spoken with Ceri at length surrounding his ideas for the academy, I'm genuinely excited for the season ahead", Chesterfield added.
Bowley meanwhile commented "I feel privileged to be joining Barry Town as Head of Youth. With the success the club has experienced over recent years, it is certainly an exciting time for all involved.
"With the outstanding individuals at the club the decision to join was quite simple for me and hopefully, over the coming seasons, I can play a small part in continuing the rise of this great club.
"I'm looking forward to working with all at the club towards establishing an academy that develops players and coaches alike and, in doing so, provides provision of which we can all be proud".
