We welcomed Bedford Town Eagles to Barton today. The rain held off and infact it was a perfect morning for football.

In our previous encounter we won 2-1 coming back from a goal down in what was a very exciting game.

The early exchanges was even enough and after around 5 minutes I had to make an early change as Tom twisted his knee and was clearly in pain. He had to sit out the rest of the game - Hopefully it will get better soon.

After 15 minutes some good closing down made Eagles rush a clearance. Kyle won the header and put it into Charlies path who slotted the ball home very calmly 1-0.

10 minutes of excellent football followed by Barton. Charlie and Callum F were linking up nicely on the forward line.

An excellent ball from Shane found Kyle whose run and cross went across the Eagles box and met by Callum F whose first time shot was struck superbly but really well saved by the Eagles keeper. Moments later another excellent Callum F shot was again equally matched by their athletic keeper.

We had to be careful when Eagles broke especially down their right hand side but George Nics continued his superb form and controlled their dangerous player very well.

Half time 1-0. I was really pleased with the boys energy levels and standard of football.

Second half we started well and the game began to open up a little more.

Our second goal came when a Charlie throughball found a lively Kyle. A couple of touches than a superb strike across their goal giving their keeper no chance 2-0.

Eagles continued to play their quality football and never gave up. A shot from outside the box was well saved by Reece but an Eagles striker followed up well and scored the rebound.

A nervy 5 minutes followed where the defence was put under some pressure. Credit to them all and the teams workrate as they withstood this with great heart.

The victory was sealed when a Kyle pass found an on fire Charlie whose shot similar to Kyles went across the keeper into the back of the net 3-1.

It finished 3-1 and I really enjoyed this match. I thought both teams played some fantastic football. Eagles played football to a standard much higher to their league position and I wish them well with their progression. I look forward to playing them again.

Supporters Player of the Day goes to Kyle. Worked hard when on the right and was fantastic when he moved into the middle. A great goal to.

Managers Player of the Day goes to Charlie. Set an example with his workrate and scored 2 goals for his efforts.
