Jimmy Ginnelly speaks out on Saturday’s FA Cup encounter with Altrincham.

“Just a few words about our fantastic FA Cup Fourth qualifying round tie against one of the non-league’s absolute giants, Altrincham FC.

“This club has been involved in some amazing giant killing ties over the years and I’m chuffed to bits that they’re visiting our little Kirkby Road ground. I just hope we give a good account of ourselves and give them at least a bit of a game.

“Everyone at Barwell are amazed we’ve reached this far but we’re here now and may as well give it our best shot.

“On Lee Sinnot’s Alty they’ve got a man mountain at the back in Tom Marshall, a left wing wizard in Nicky Clee who’s got a left foot to die for, his shots and crosses are something we really need to stop and then up front the goal machine Damien Reeves (Mr Goals!). He always seems to score so again we need to try and keep him quiet. Hey, that’s just three players so as you all at Barwell know they’ve got eight other Conference players coming at our little team, so it’s going to be very interesting for all.

“One thing’s for sure we know we’re in for a very tough afternoon.

“I believe this is the furthest we’ve ever been in the FA Cup. I was assistant to Paul O’Brien four years ago in the Fourth Qualifying Round when we were beaten at Droylsden and we got spanked that day albeit it was away and this time we’re at home so I’m looking to be the man that takes this little village club into the First Round Proper.
I couldn’t have been handed any harder a task, I don’t think but one thing’s for sure, we’ll enjoy the day whatever happens.

“I’d like to thank the groundsmen, Terry Fisher, Geoff Hines and Nick Gilks for their efforts in giving us a lovely pitch to play on.

“I’m expecting Alty to bring their 200 + supporters so I’m sure they’ll take over our little ground. I hope they enjoy their day but hope they don’t enjoy the journey home – (ha, ha – only kidding).

Guy, Ricks and I will be doing our best to make sure we’ve given the lads as much info as possible and have them ready for our biggest game of the season. I’m sure the game and result will look after itself.

Once again thanks for your support and hopefully we’ve all got something to have a nice pint of beer in our little clubhouse”

“All the best, Jimmy Ginnelly”
