Striker reflects on Barwell's win over Coalville Town

After a difficult run of form for the Canaries, Callum Ball was delighted Barwell were able to secure three points against Coalville Town and, in turn, maintain their perfect record over their local rivals this season.

Skipper Brady Hickey scored late as Jimmy Ginnelly's side picked up a first victory in six matches.

The striker has been left frustrated with results in recent weeks, which have coincided with a top five spot seeming unlikely following a defeat at Sutton Coldfield Town, but is focussed on claiming a top half finish with a strong performance at Spennymoor Town on Saturday.

He said: "We'd lost the last few games and been a bit disappointing since missing out on the play-offs.

"It's good to get a win back at home against our rivals. We've beaten them three times this year now, so hopefully we can make that four at the County Cup final next month.

"It's nice to pick up another win and we're trying to finish as high as we can up the table.

Despite the striker not joining Barwell until mid-November, Ball has shown an eye for goal over a short period of time to finish second behind Hickey in the race to become the club's top scorer this season.

The 24-year-old believes keeping the squad together over the summer will help the Canaries build on their positive second-half to the season.

"I've enjoyed my time here," said Ball.

"The manager, lads in the dressing room and everyone else has been great. Getting plenty of goals has helped too!

"I wasn't here at the start of the season, but I've heard it was a very tough time.

"We want to finish as high as we can, and look towards next year.

"You never know, if we keep the team together, we could make the play-offs".
