Striker adds more quality to squad

Anthony Dwyer has welcomed his move to Barwell FC and the chance to get back to first team football. Dwyer told us: “I just want to get back to playing, scoring goals and enjoying my football again”. The 22 year old was speaking on the day he signed on a dual registration from Leamington FC.

Dwyer had joined The Brakes in July 2018, moving from a very short spell at Altrincham. He had been at Hednesford Town before that and has been on the books at AFC Telford United, Matlock Town, Ilkeston and Stafford Rangers. His career began as a youth player at Mansfield Town where he rose through the ranks.

Barwell manager, Guy Hadland, was pleased to land the striker and confirmed he would go straight in to the squad for the game away at Banbury United on 5th January. Hadland said: “I am very excited to have captured the signature of Anthony Dwyer. I believe with this addition to the squad we now have the right balance of players to push on this season”.

Hadland added: “I feel that our league position is a bit false given the quality we have in the dressing room and a player like Anthony just adds to that”.
