REPORT | Barwell 1-0 Lancaster City
Stenson strike sees Canaries fly away with all three points.
A curled effort from Matt Stenson secured all three points as the Canaries look to end the season with their highest ever finish since the club's formation in 1992.
The boys in green started on the front foot, with their best chance coming when Eddy Nisevic was unlucky not to get a clean contact on Matt Stenson's cross in the opening 20 minutes. Lancaster's only chance of note was a header from towering striker Connor Simpson, which he directed straight into the gloves of Liam Castle.
Barwell continued to threaten, with Matt Stenson and Jake Whitmore utilising their pace in a 3-4-1-2 system to hurt the Lancaster defence.
Their rewards game on 33 minutes, when top scorer Matt Stenson cut inside from the right and curled a beautiful effort beyond Elliot Wynne and into the far corner.
Another fine chance presented itself just before half time. Some neat combination play on the edge of the box left Brady Hickey with the goal at his mercy, however the former Nuneaton midfielder couldn't find a finish and Lancaster eventually cleared their lines.
The strong Barwell performance continued in the second half, with plenty of energy high up the pitch preventing Lancaster from threatening the Barwell goal.
Whitmore saw a shot saved by the goalkeeper, with Hickey unlucky not to connect to the rebound. Whitmore, formerly of Coventry City, had another chance as he got on the end of Stenson's cross, but he somehow couldn't steer it towards goal.
Lancaster tried to reply late on with a curling shot that flew just wide and a couple of shots that were blocked in the box, but Barwell saw the game out for all three points.
