United bow out of the Senior cup
No disgrace as Basford fell at round 3 to Rainworth 2-3
The efforts of Basford official to get a game on last evening was commendable and totally justifed despite United bowing out of the Notts Senior cup 3rd round stage.Despite the perfect start via a fine goal converted by Courtney Hastings United on 3 minutes, United were immediately undone by a sweeping Rainworth move on 7 minutes.The visitors wasted no time in going in front 3 minutes later as a striker was hauled down and the penalty converted. The visitors looked to have made the game safe on 43 minutes. Despite a far improved second half display without ever at our flowing best Martin Holts late speculative 40 yard effort proved a mere consolation.
