There was plenty of experience throughout the side this week but short on pace and defenders so it was vital that Bourne Deeping retained possession as much as possible. In fact the dragons produced some of the most controlled hockey seen for a long time and they were able to press the visitors throughout the first half. March made Bourne Deeping face the sun and were heavily reliant on an aerial attack but Graham Brewer & Pete Moisey dealt coolly with everything thrown at them to set up the next attack. Gareth Evison controlled the midfield moving play to both flanks and enabling numerous chances. The closest attempt from open play came from Steve Waters but he was denied by the post, however shortly after from Bourne Deeping’s 2nd penalty corner Dan Pelech had all the time to strike and take a precious lead. In the second half March’s key player moved to a more advanced position but was snuffed out by the excellent Mark Cox. mike Bradshaw made his season debut and Mark Gambles was tireless in his second match allowing the Dragons to hold onto a precious victory
