BDHC Ladies 3rds vs Huntingdon
A freezing cold day had all of the hockey matches at Market Deeping astro turf called off, except for one! The Dragons Ladies 3s soon turned up to play their second friendly fixture raring to play, soon warming up the pitch with their burning ambition to win!
The game started and the Dragons got off to an excellent start with Eve Greenaway and Izzy Wilding dominating out wide on the left creating some great chances for Debbie Wilding the Dragons continued to pressure a strong Huntingdon defence with some excellent team work and skill driving forward from Mollie Porch and Hazel Williams keeping Huntingdon constantly pinned back in defence. However, Huntingdon soon struck back with a 2 on 1 break away which they finished with great composure, unusually wrong footing keeper Katie Woodward, leaving the Dragons 1-0 down at half time.
The 2nd half began and none of the Dragons heads had dropped after being 1-0 down. They soon came back breathing fire and immediately attacking Huntingdon’s defence once again. Some excellent work from Jess Teesdale and Emily Murray down the right handside, supported by some superb, aggressive passes into the attacking circle being picked up by the ever present Izzy Oakley who soon finished her chance with excellent skill and composure, slotting the ball into the bottom right hand side of the goal leaving Huntingdon keeper with nothing else to do but stand and admire! This certainly gave the Dragons even more confidence and they started to attack once again. Some brilliant leg work in midfield from Tash Newitt, Jen Tuffin, Becky Allam and Sue Oakley soon broke down any attack from Huntingdon and created more great chances for the Dragons. The Huntingdon defence stayed strong and held out until the final whistle, finishing the match with a 1-1 draw and happy faces all round even from the much welcomed side-line full of supporters.
