Beaconsfield Cricket Club (BCC) promotes cricket in the local community by helping to develop the skills of young cricketers from the ages of 6 to 17, both boys and girls.
At BCC, Juniors (ages 11 to 17), Minis (ages 6 to 10) and Girls (ages 6 to 17) tend to be referred to collectively as "Colts" for historical reasons only.
Before 2015, younger Girls at BCC sometimes played and joined in with the Boys age groups, including playing matches, particularly if they had a brother playing. In 2016 we formed a Girls only team (mixed ages) who trained together and played a couple of inaugural matches against other clubs. This was a real success and the Girls squad members had a lot of fun.
During the cricket season of end April to late August BCC offers Sunday morning coaching sessions at Wilton Park 09:30-11:15 (Girls and U7s-U12s) and 11:30-13:15 (U13s-U17s). The club also offers specifically organised winter and summer courses, all run by qualified ECB coaches.
The club helps its young players progress through the age groups and into the senior teams but most importantly enables them to enjoy and acquit themselves well in the wide range of Bucks Cricket Board County League and Knockout Cup Competitions competitions from the U9 to U17 age groups, matches played at weekends and weekday evenings.
The entire ground is used for the Colts every Sunday morning, and boys and girls aged 6 and above are encouraged to turn up and play. In the club Pavilion we sell Sunday newspapers and coffee and there is an ever popular tuck shop for children of all ages. Outside the Pavilion we operate a mouthwatering BBQ and inside the Pavilion the bar is open from late morning.
On Friday evenings from 18:30 when the weather gets a bit warmer we plan to run 'Fun Friday', a social event for parents and children. A Level 2 coach helped by a Level 1 coach organise cricket related games aimed at younger Boys and Girls while our many parent volunteers run the bar, barbecue and tuck shop. Older age groups sometimes organise special training sessions or intra-club friendlies making use of the nets and the second and third pitches. All are welcome: the aim is to have fun, while the 'serious' training takes place on Sunday mornings.
The membership subscription for an individual Colt aged 17 or younger is £85 for the season. For 2 siblings aged 17 or younger it's £140. For 3 or more siblings aged 17 or younger it's £210.
If you are interested in finding out more or would like to sign up to join the colts then please contact email Michele Taylor directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please refrain from turning up to training without confirming availability in your age groups as some of our squads are at capacity.
