BEARS Junior Netball Newsletter - July 2018
Summer Holidays & Family Netball Tournament
The last training session before we break up for the summer will be Wednesday 18th July, this will include a Bootcamp session for all girls (please bring an extra £3). At 7pm we would like to run a family netball tournament, so Mums and Dads please bring your trainers and £3 each.
Training will start again on Wednesday 22nd August at 5.30pm. Please tell your friends and bring them along. The first session is free, £2 each week thereafter. Polite reminder: dogs are not allowed at Hassenbrook School under any circumstances. Many thanks for your co-operation.
Bears Netball Kit
Thank you for bearing (pardon the pun!) with us, a delivery is imminent. If you have not ordered any kit yet and would like to do so, please ask for a kit order form.
Second-hand Kit
If you have any kit in good condition that your child has grown out of, please bring it along to training and give it to Helen Gentry, who will try and find a good home for it and some money towards a new set. A complete second-hand set (dress & long sleeve top) will be sold for £20, new kit is £35/£40 depending on size.
Bears Leggings
A number of girls and parents have expressed an interest in adding leggings to the Bears netball kit. The club is currently working with its current supplier to produce some similar to the photo, but with BEARS appearing on the lower part of the leg. Cost is anticipated to be £18. As soon as they are available we will let you know.
Bears Netball Socks
We have found a provider who can produce short white socks with purple stripes and the word BEARS on the back (similar to photo). There is a minimum order per size, so at this stage we would like to gauge interest. The indicative cost is £5 per pair, but it could be less depending on the quantity we order. Please indicate your interest on the attached information update form.
Club Water Bottles
An order will be placed at the end of July. They come in our club colour -
purple with BEARS on one side and cost £8 each. They can be personalised with your name/nickname (one word only) for an extra £1. We are very happy to accept £10 and will donate the additional pound to a local charity. Please put the cash in an envelope and mark with your child’s name, clearly stating what name should appear on the water bottle, if required, and the amount of cash enclosed.
Club Rucksacks
Looking for a new Rucksack? These are available for £15 and can be personalised with initials for an extra £3.

2018 Fast5 All Stars 13th October at the Copper Box Arena, Olympic Park, London 1pm – 6pm
The world’s most exciting form of netball and we would like the girls and you to see it. The best of British netball will be showcased with defending champions Loughborough Lightning are confirmed to compete. Matches are just 12 minutes long and a five-point line rewards those willing to brave a shot from distance, while the Golden Buzzer is also back to offer teams double points during their two-minute Power Play.
Smarties Fundraiser
Be a ‘SMARTIE’ and fill a tube with 20p pieces!
We’ve given you these smarties to eat, But the empty tube you must keep,
20p pieces are what you need to find, Ask friends and family, they won’t mind, Fill your tube right up to the top,
Return in September for our fundraising pot.
Enjoy your smarties and over the summer holidays collect 20p coins in your tube. The money we raise will be split between the Club (we need some new bibs and balls) and a local charity. Please bring them back in September, making sure your child’s name is written your name on the tube. There will be a small prize for the player who collects the most money. Bears Netball Club are looking for a local charity to support so if you have any ideas please let Sue or your coach know.
Communication with Parents
In order that Bears Netball Club can communicate efficiently and effectively with parents we would like to start using email for newsletters, membership, fees and kit orders. In order for this to be successful we need your up to date email address. Please add it to the attached information update form.
As well as the What’s App group for each team, Bears Netball Club has a website where the results of Bears Juniors matches are posted http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/bearsnc. There is also a Facebook page too, just search for Bears Netball Club.
Heads up
The winter league will start in early September. As soon as a date is confirmed we will let everyone know. League fees and England Netball fees will be due in September.
Returning to netball?
If you enjoy the Family tournament and want to play again or are thinking about returning to netball why not try “Pay and Play” at Basildon Sporting Village is £3 a session 7.30pm – 8.30pm, starts on Wednesday 25 July.
Sue and all the coaches hope you have a fab summer, see you on 22 August at 5.30pm.
We have made enquiries regarding the booking of a 49 seater coach. If we can fill it the cost per
person will be £8. Tickets for the event are £16.50 for Under 18s and £33.50 for adults. If you
would like to attend, please complete the attached slip & return it with a £20 deposit per person
before we break up for the summer. Everyone welcome, the more the merrier – we could get a
double decker!
