Changes for the first team Captaincy & coaching team

After 2 very successful years Alex Warsop is standing down, though not retiring. Since joining the club in the 2012/13 season, Alex has been a great asset to the club and a key component to the 1st XV's success's over the years having seen us through to 4 vase finals ( winning 2 of them ) and securing promotion in his first year. Taking over from Alex will be the familiar face of Dave Watkins (aka Mary) who we welcomed back from Combe last season. The experience that Dave has brought back with him along with his playing skills has added tremendously to the team’s performance, an excellent replacement for the club and an ideal candidate to follow on the great work that Alex put in last season.

We also welcome a new coaching set up at Beccehamian RFC with David Sia and Dave Cheng taking over as head coach and assistant coach respectively. To some at the club they will be familiar faces from the fast developing and increasingly successful Hayes School Rugby set up. They bring with themselves a wealth of coaching experience with both having played National Level and Representative rugby during their playing careers. Pre–season has been going very well with a high of 40+ attendees at last Tuesday’s session and bodes well for the season ahead. Both coaches have been very impressed with what they have seen so far and are excited about the prospect ahead in the coming season.

We have been very lucky to have secured the services of David ( Mary), David and Dave for next season , so please join me in welcoming them to the club and give them every support in true Beccehamian style. Do feel free to introduce yourselves and catch up with the guys who are all very personalable. They are very keen to share their knowledge and expeience’s ( seniors and Juniors), and also to see the continued development of Brand Becc’s rugby throughout the whole club.

1st Game of the season gets underway on the 2nd September with a friendly at home against local neighbours Park House . Ideal preparation for our assault on Kent 1 on the 9th with a fixture against old foes Gillingham Anchorians who we welcome back to the Den after a sojourn in London SE 3. KO 3:00 pm.
