New Ash Green 17 v Beccehamian 21 Saturday 11 Nov
This week it was a very different Beccs side which took the pitch today, Four of the pack went to internationals.
NAG kicked off and Beccs carried the ball into the NAG half. NAG penalised for a high tackle on half way. After five minutes the NAG centre was yellow carded for an off the ball tackle.
From a Beccs scrum about 20 metres out Ben Henning broke blind and went over untouched. Warsop missed the conversion.
From the kick off Beccs attempted to throw the ball wide but were penalised for crossing. Beccs managed to turn over the ball from the resulting lineout and attacked down the right but knocked the ball on in the NAG 22.
At the 15 minute mark a NAG flanker was given a red card for punching.
NAG managed to get the ball into the Beccs half and their pack seemed galvanised by the sending off. They eventually got the ball into the Beccs 22 after 20 minutes. NAG were awarded a penalty for offside which they kicked to make it 5-3 to Beccs.
About 35 minutes into the game Beccs were attacking and Lewis Tear received the ball on the NAG 22 and took a terrific line to score in the corner. This left Warsop with another long attempt at goal which he missed making it 10-3 to Beccs.
Just before half time Beccs were awarded a kickable penalty which was dispatched by Alex making it 13-3 to Beccs.
At the start of the second half the NAG forwards attacked around the fringes and kept getting across the gain line.
Beccs brought their bench on and the backs carried the ball into the NAG corner and Lewis Miller touched down in the corner. This gave Warsop another go at converting from the corner. Beccs were leading 18-3. Some of the spectators and some of the team possibly were dreaming of a bonus point win.
It was another 30 minutes before we entered the NAG 22. Their seven forwards were playing extremely well and they kept carrying the ball over the gain line. After about 10 minutes and numerous near misses they scored a try and converted it. Beccs were leading 18-10.
From the KO NAG took the ball into the Beccs half and their forwards continued to pound our line. Eventually they scored another converted try. Beccs were leading 18-17.
Ben Henning who was our best forward went off with a head injury. Beccs managed to get back in the NAG 22 with 5 minutes to go, but knocked the ball on. The ref did not see the knock on and awarded Beccs a penalty for an NAG infringement at the ruck. Alex kicked the penalty and Beccs were leading 21-17. There was still time for one more NAG attempt on the Beccs line but they failed thankfully.
Mr Timmins the ref had a very good game.

New Ash Green’s whole side played well after the sending off and their pack were superb.
1. George did not throw up in this game.
2. When we brought on the subs we had a front row with two eighteen year olds and old man Tossell who is twenty two.
3. All the tackling was good practice.
4. Mary’s reaction was we have won 9 from 9.
