Beccs Back in London South East 3

Beccehamians 14 Bromley 20

Beccs first game in South East 3 for a number of years was eagerly anticipated by a large
crowd at Sparrows Den on Saturday. Visitors Bromley also brought a large number of
supporters.
Beccs got off to a good start and when a Bromley kick was charged down just outside their
22 an exchange of passes resulted in Bobby Coles scoring a try. Alex Warsop kicked an easy
conversion to make it 7-0.
Beccs enjoyed a period of possession and were on top for the first 25 minutes and when the
ball was kicked through Pat Refell managed to hack on and score a try out wide. Alex Warsop
stepped up and surprised us by converting the try to make it 14-0.
Throughout the half there had been flashes which showed the dangers posed by the
Bromley side.
For the rest of the first half Bromley were on top and exerted pressure in our half. Bromley
turned the ball over in our half and wing Alex Griffiths scored a try wide out. The conversion
was missed to make the half time score 14-5.
Bromley started the second half well and started to dominate possession. Eventually
Bromley scored a try just to thge left of the posts but they failed to kick the conversion
making the score 14-10.
Bromley continued to dominate possession and territory. Bromley kicked for the corner from
a penalty and drove the ball over the try line for another try to make it 14-15.
From another lineout Bromley tried a catch and drive but were stopped. They retained
possession and after repeated attempts to score a try George Scott got over the line to make
it 14-20.
There was just time for one more effort from Beccs and we were awarded a penalty for a
high tackle in the Bromley 22. From the tap penalty we were awarded another penalty for a
high tackle but this was reversed because one of our players retaliated.
Thanks to Mr Stremes for refereeing a Fast open game.
Next Saturday we can look forward to a long journey to Old Dunstonians.
