U13's rugby is classified as Junior Rugby.
Everyone is welcome to join the U13's regardless of skill or experience but unfortunately you must be male! Girls Junior Rugby is played independently of Boys Junior Rugby.
To qualify for the U13's squad, you must be 12 years old at the beginning of the season (1st September) - this equates to being in School Year 8.
Play is regulated by the standard IRB Laws of the Game modified by the IRB U19's Variations, which are then further modified by RFU Regulation 15 (Age Grade Rugby). Players and match officials must ensure that the following Rules of Play and RFU Regulation 15 www.englandrugby.com/governance/regulations are observed when playing rugby at Under 13.
Pitches : full-size Rugby pitch with standard markings.
Ball Size : 4
Players on Pitch : a maximum of 13-a-side
Max Fixture Duration : 25 mins each way - no extra time.
6 players in a fully contested scrum (all players must be confident and competent)
No limit on numbers contesting for the ball including in the maul and ruck
Unlimited rolling substitutions and substituted players may re-enter the game. Substitutions can only take place when the ball is dead and always with the referee’s permission.
Sin Bin time: 5 Minutes.
OPPOSITION SCRUM HALF CANNOT PASS MIDDLE LINE OF SCRUM UNTIL BALL EXITS SCRUM. The No.8 is not permitted to pick up the ball from the back of the scrum.
NO KICKING CONVERSIONS AFTER A TRY OR PENALTY KICKING AT POSTS
