U15's Lose to Warlingham
A tough game against strong opposition
On a beautiful sunny but very windy morning at Sparrows Den, things did not start well with Toby managing to injure himself in the warm up !!
With Jimmy unavailable, Max started at 10 with Herb moving to prop in Toby's place and Evan at flanker.
Also back as visitors were the Sullivan twins at 9 and 10 for Warlingham, with Joe one of their coaches.
The first half was very tight with only an interception try after 8 minutes for Warlingham separating the 2 sides, making it 0 - 7
Just before half time a period of sustained pressure by Beccs came to nothing when Warlingham were awarded a penalty in their own 22, following some back chat from the Beccs players. (The ref incidentally was Chris Mallows, one of the Warlingham dads who stepped in at the last minute, thank you Chris)
At half time Beccs made several changes with injuries to Liam and Ben amongst others, including a debut for Linford, who made his presence felt with some very solid runs.
In the second half Warlingham applied more pressure and managed to score a further 3 tries on 31, 45 and 54 minutes respectively to win 0 - 22.
Amongst the many injuries poor Akira probably came off the worst with a broken wrist, I spoke to his Dad and hopefully he will still be coming on tour, even if he can't play.
The game itself was much closer than the score might suggest, we played well, against a strong organised team and despite the injuries mounting up and rotating players so everyone got some game time, this was good preparation for our tour which is in just over a week's time...
