Ladies secure home league victory to maintain unbeaten start to the season
Seven try demolition of Canterbury keeps LAdies in top spot
From the kick off the Beckenham pack dominated the breakdown but the backs were unable to capitalise on the space out wide. After some excellent support play, scrumhalf Becca Guild secured the first points with a scooting run down the blindside. This was shortly followed by another try from Guild, darting in under the posts from close range.
Credit to Canterbury who came back with some strong runs and crunching tackles from their pack, but shortly before half time Number 8 Dave Mills brought the score to 15-0 charging down the blind side to score.
The second half showed Beckenham stepping up a gear with clever kicking from fly half Helen Harris who then made a break in the midfield offloading to centre Lucy Hooton who sprinted in to score under the posts, showing excellent support play. Mills added the conversion.
This was shortly followed by a wide ball to full back Chas Checksfield who outpaced the backline to score on the outside. Harris successfully added the conversion.
Beckenham continued to dominate in defence, forcing an error from the Canterbury backline. Checksfield collected a loose ball on the bounce to score out wide.
The final try came from nippy winger kirsty long, who showed great strength running through 3 defenders to dot down under the posts, brining the final score to 39-0.
Another promising performance from an ever improving Beckenham side, making their mark in the league against a strong Canterbury opposition.
