Things to watch out for as a player, parent and coach when playing rugby

As players, parents, coaches and people who have a great love for the game we know it may not be possible to stop all concussions happening, but being aware of England Rugby's 4 R's;

  1. Recognise
  2. Remove
  3. Recover
  4. Return

Will help minimise the risk of short, medium and long term harm to the brain and other body regions.

This link will bring you to the dedicated RFU concussion website. There are sections for players & parents, coaches, match officials, healthcare professionals and other interested parties.

There is a 20 minute video for players and we recommend that players of all ages watch it. Coaches and match officials should also look at their respective areas.

The video explains what concussion is, how it happens and what you can do as a player to avoid injury or return safely to playing following a concussion.

There is a separate video for parents & guardians which is focussed on youth players and how you can support them to prevent and manage concussion safely.

There is a certificate at the end of the course so if you want to print that off and bring to the next training session and hand them to your age coach, they will pass them onto the club who will ensure they are added to your son or daughters RFU record.

In the event of any questions, please contact your respective coach.
