Charity day looms for Bulldogs & Rhinos

This Saturday, the Community and surrounding areas will descend on Mount Pleasant Park to watch our wonderful Pink Bulldogs take on Rhydyfelin Rhinos in a charity fundraising event.

This game will be played between two teams who have only come together over the last few weeks and have hardly any experience of playing the game or any type of rugby background.

The girls have already been put through their paces and the pain barrier by their coaches so that they are in a good place ready to raise money for some fantastic causes.

This year’s nominated charities are LATCH (Children Cancer Charity) and Alzheimer’s, which are both very close to the hearts of all the players and volunteers who have made this event possible.

This is the second time that this fabulous event has been staged, with last year’s event raising a huge amount of money for Velindre. Our Pink Bulldogs pipped the brilliant Taffs Well last June to be the first ever winners of the Maria Powell Cup in front of one of the biggest crowds ever at Mount Pleasant. Now this Saturday the aim is to attract more people and make even more money for these worthy causes.

As well as the rugby, there are plenty of other things to keep the family excited throughout the day. There will be fun fair rides, face painting and bouncy castles.

There are some great auction prizes up for grabs during the day as well.

Gates open for the event at 11.30am and entry is by ticket which costs £2, which you can pick up from either of the rugby Clubs or team members or you can pay £2-50 on Saturday at the ground.

There is parking available at the Clubhouse, Bryncelynnog School or the Community Centre. We ask politely that we respect our neighbours and do not park outside houses on the road leading to the ground.

Merchandise which includes hoodies, t-shirts and match programmes are available to buy at the Clubhouse on Thursday evening and at the ground on Saturday but beware stocks are now running very low.

The Club and the Pink Bulldogs wish to put on record their sincere thanks to the event partners High Motive, Bob Gay Plant Hire, Edwards Coaches, Steve Rowlands Car Sales, The Landlord Letting Company, The Hair Lounge and Lee’s Cleaning Services.

A special thank you also to WRU referee Leighton Hodges who has agreed to return to referee Saturday’s game which kicks off at 1pm after playing such a good part in last year’s event.

We urge everybody to please, please make the effort to attend this brilliant day on Saturday and give these ladies the support they deserve after their amazing efforts in recent weeks.
