Beddau 1st XV and Development XV will both face tough opposition this weekend if the bad weather doesn't again stop games being played.

The 1st team will travel to the Welfare Ground to meet league leaders Newbridge. 'Bridge' who lost to Gilfach Goch early in the New Year bounced back in convincing fashion at Rumney on the weekend and will certainly be the biggest challenge to Beddau this season thus far.

Selection will again be a headache with almost 50 players again training at the club on Thursday evening. In the back division especialy new Welsh Womens coach Rhys Edwards will have plenty of dilemas. Robert Downes will have the opportunity to pick from a near full strength pack and hope to reverse the early season home defeat.

The Development team will hope to continue their good record in the WRU 2nd XV league when Merthyr travel to Mount Pleasant Park on Saturday. Despite a 87-0 victory over Builth Wells last Saturday the coaching trio of Julian Burnell, Dean Barnes and Garreg Jenkins continue to ask their squad questions and challenge the players to force their way into the match day 22 for the clubs SWALEC Cup game with Cardiff on January 29th.

The Youth XV have no fixture this weekend but will be busy focussing on next weekends Taff Rhondda District cup tie at local rivals Rhydyfelin.
