All roads lead to Ystrad

No disrespect to our two other sides playing this weekend but there is a crucial game for the 1st team.

With 2 games to go the race for the title is firmly in our hands. However with our opponents riding on the crest of a wave following consecutive semi final wins in the WRU Plate and Silver Ball respectively, a monumental battle is expected.

The maths are complicated. A bonus point win, while denying Ystrad a bonus point of their own, will see league honours going to the Green & Gold. Any other win will see the champagne put on ice for a week. Even then we would need a point against near neighbours Llantrisant. Lose and the ball goes back firmly into Ystrad's hands. They would be then be, six, seven or even eight points behind with two games in hand. Don't even contemplate a draw as that conjours up another batch of possibilities.

Whatever happens come the final whistle on Saturday and on May 2nd, nobody can deny the fact that this has been a fantastic season and the icing on the cake is that we are there or thereabouts at the death.

If you are able to make the journey on Saturday, your support will be vital and could make all the difference to the team. So please make every effort to be there and play your part in what could be a historic day.

The Development face a tough home game at Mount Pleasant against Ystrad. The Rhondda side, whatever the result, will finish in 2nd place in the league. A great effort in what has been a long season.

The Youth entertain local rivals Llantwit Fardre in a 'friendly' at Yorkdale.

Both Development and Youth will join with the rest of the club in wishing the 1st team all the best in their game.
