All the weekend action from the club and around the community

There’s plenty of action for teams within our Club this weekend.

The 1st XV will be hoping to put on a similar performance to last Saturday, where they held title chasing Swansea to a 19-19 draw when they make the trip to Newbridge in another Swalec Championship game.

Their hosts on Saturday have been dragged into a little bit of a relegation fight and will be keen to pick up valuable points which will see them move further away from Glynneath and Llanharan who sit in the drop spots at present.

Newbridge have won six games this season , Llanharan (54-7 & 50-3), Newcastle Emlyn (24-8), Tata Steel (30-24), Cardiff Met (19-13) and RGC 1404 (23-17), and have accumulated thirty two points from their twenty league games.

Former Beddau scum half Lloyd Peart is expected to line up for the home team who are coached by the vastly experienced former Neath and Ebbw Vale coach Neil Edwards.

Beddau coaches Lee Davies and Ben Daniels will be hoping to return from the Welfare Ground with a double after they won the early season game between the Clubs by 20-13. Sam Withers and Cody Baker scored tries that day with Withers also kicking two penalties and two conversions.

Kick-off is 2.30pm.

Match referee is Mr Gareth John (Chepstow).

The Development XV return to action after their weekend away on tour and couldn’t face a tirickier encounter than a home tie against league leaders Penallta at Mount Pleasant Park (2.30pm).

The Pitmen look odds on to take the Rhondda and East Glamorgan Premier league title for a second successive season but will come up against a young Beddau team who will be full of heart after an excellent effort in the Ivor Williams Cup final recently.

The teams have yet to meet this season due to postponements with the weather, but these games are always tough but good games on the eye for spectators.

Match referee is Mr Peter Young.

Kick off 2.30pm

The Youth XV have yet to confirm their fixture, but as soon as details are made available they will be posted on this website and our social media sites.

JUNIOR RUGBY

Our junior “Bulldogs” are again in action over the weekend.

Some of our age groups are involved in tours and tournaments over the weekend so good luck to them and all our other teams that are in action this Sunday.

FOOTBALL

Cwm Welfare 1st XI face an away trip to Cardiff Corinthians in another Welsh League Division Three encounter.

The Corinthians have not had the greatest of seasons with just two wins to their name, but one of those was at Mount Pleasant back in August when they beat Cwm 2-1.

The Welfare currently stand in fourteenth spot with twenty one points which is nine points more than their guests this weekend.

Match referee is Mr Ryan Tudor.

The Reserves are in home Welsh League Reserves West Division action against Tata Steel.

Tata have had a decent season picking up seventeen points from their nineteen games, whilst Cwm are still languishing at the wrong end of the table with six points for the season.

Match referee is Mr Andrew Matthews.

Both games kick-off at 2.30pm.

ENTERTAINMENT

You can again see all the top live sport at the Clubhouse in HD on the big screens and many large tv’s over the weekend.

There is plenty of European rugby and Premiership football to watch.

There is again the live vocalist in the bar from 5pm on Sunday.

LOTTERY

There was again no winners in Monday night’s draw, which means this week’s jackpot rolls over to a massive £6608.

The numbers drawn on Monday were 5-11-14-15.
