All the weekend action from around the club and community

There is another weekend of bustling action involving our teams.

The 1st XV will again be on the road as they travel to meet Skewen for the first time in a National Championship fixture.

The Green and Golds will be buoyed by two excellent consecutive away wins at bogey teams Cardiff Met and Narberth and will hope to make it a hat trick of wins this weekend.

But they face a very strong Skewen outfit whose position in the league perhaps doesn’t give them enough credit. They really battled away at Pontypool last week before eventually losing out 33-3. They have three wins to their belt already this season and they were against Glamorgan Wanderers (20-19), Dunvant (24-23) and Glynneath (13-3). They also have lost out to Narberth (31-24), Tata Steel (17-12) and Cardiff Met (27-10). They sit in ninth place and just five points adrift of Beddau in fourth place.

Skewen is always a tricky place to go and coaches Johnson and Daniels will be warning their players of this and will certainly let them know that their last two wins on the road will count for nothing if they don’t return home with the points this Saturday.

Match referee is Mr Jason Beasant and kick-off is 2.30pm.

The 2nd XV will return to Rhondda & East Glamorgan DRU league action this Saturday with a tough home fixture against Penallta.

Games with the Pitmen over the years have been very tough but very pleasing on the eye for spectators so hopefully Saturday’s game will follow in the same manner.

Penallta have played just one league game this season and that was a 35-7 home win over Senghenydd.

The teams last met back at the end of last season with Beddau winning a typical tight encounter by 28-22.

The Green & Gold will be looking to extend their winning run to four but will need to return to their best form if it is to continue.

Match referee is Mr Gary Thomas and kick-off is also 2.30pm.

The Youth XV have trip to Brecon to look forward to.

With the disappointment of the 59-17 reversal at Newbridge already behind them the team will be looking forward to this one.

Coaches Daly, James & Kumar will be expecting to see an improvement and kick start their season with an overdue win.

Kick off is 2.30pm

MINI & JUNIOR RUGBY

Our “Bulldogs” are once again in action around the playing fields of Beddau this Sunday morning. So please pop along and give our future stars all your support and remember to encourage them that it is all about fun.

FOOTBALL

Cwm Welfare 1st XI are once again in Welsh League Division Three action this Saturday and welcome unbeaten Caerau to Mount Pleasant Park (2.30pm).

The visitors have a 100% record from their opening four games and sit sixth in the table. Cwm are down in 14th place after a win and two draws from their first seven games, but recent performances have given them plenty of confidence.

The Reserve XI are without a TERV league fixture this weekend.

DARTS

Our darts team will entertain Ogmore B at the Clubhouse this Friday in their third Pontyclun & District Darts Winter league game of the season. Beddau have only lost one leg so far this season as they recorded resounding victories over Ogmore Meerkats (6-1) and the High Corner (7-0) in their opening games.

The visitors have won one and lost one game from their first two outings but are always a hugely competitive outfit.

All the action starts at 8.15pm.

ENTERTAINMENT

Once again you can catch all top European rugby and Premiership football live on the big screens and many large TV’s in HD around the Clubhouse. There is again the regular Sunday singer in the bar from 6pm. Free admission for what is a great early evening of entertainment.

LOTTERY

Don’t forget to pick up your lucky lottery ticket from behind the bar over the weekend for Monday night’s draw. It is a great way to help support your Club and earn yourself a big jackpot.

Have a great weekend.
