Bedfont unable to make extra man count as Slough Town win 2-1 at The Orchard...
Slough Town moved to within a point of league leaders St Neots Town with a 2-1 win at The Orchard that despite the three goals and a sending off of Rebels defender Nathan Bowden-Haase was one of the dullest matches seen by many this season.
Bedfont welcomed back captain Matt O'Brien and Tommy Brewer to the starting line-up but manager Garry Haylock surprised many by opting to deploy Brewer in midfield, playing James Walters at right-back and Jon-Barrie Bates at centre-back.
The first half was uneventful and it took a full 45 minutes for the first shot, a Tommy Brewer effort which flew over the bar.
The second half was just 11 minutes old when a mistake at the back by O'Brien let in Sean Sonner to gift the visitors the lead. Nathan Bowden-Haase then received his marching orders for a second caution when the referee adjudged him to have deliberately handled the ball. Danny Burnell then scrambled in a goal from a corner to double Slough's lead before Brewer was brought down in the final minute for a penalty that Reis Stanislaus converted.
