Fullerians vs. Bedford
A game of two halves as Blues continue the unbeaten run!
This really was a game of two halves, first half we were down 15-19 and 2nd half we won the game 39-19. First match after Xmas and the backs were still wearing their cracker hats and munching on turkey legs by the time Fullers had run in three tries. To say we were disorganised in the backs is being polite, so many times our centres were being pulled out of position and allowed Fullers to exploit these holes with some strong offloads to their second rows. More on the backs later, now to the forwards, brilliant first half!!
The next couple of lines will sound more like a garden centre catalogue than a match report but our forwards produced pod after pod. Fadds 'rose' time after time to win many line-outs regardless of who was throwing in. The support play from our collection of little flowers was excellent with players ‘sprouting’ up all over the park, well done.
We moved into the second half with a couple of positional changes (Steph moved to my right shoulder) and the backs determined to not let the forwards grab all the headlines. What a difference, the tiring forwards were happy to let 9 ship the ball out and many a flash ball found the centres and out to the wing with much ground being made, a massive turnaround from the first half!
This was a competitive match and Fullerians were good opposition with a well drilled set of backs that put us under a lot of pressure. However, this is a great squad of boys and you are starting to trust each other and support each other at pace and with the right amount of aggression, not to mention your great fitness, all that work has paid off!
Not the prettiest of games but the unbeaten run goes on, well done!
Special mention to the ref, I wish they were all like him....
