JT's thoughts on the Uxbridge game

As far as I am concerned, it was not a very good day at the office today. We obviously played a lot better on Tuesday night; our passing was a lot better and we created a lot of chances, and today we didn’t create many at all. We looked to be on the back foot quite a bit today, and normally the lads we’ve got in midfield usually distribute the ball a lot better. Today, I thought we were too far out of position, and too far away from our markers.
With creativity, we lacked a little bit of vision, and a little bit of guile. The direction of our play was poor. Our final ball at times was quite bad. We have to hold our hands up, dust ourselves down, and look forward to the next game.
I hate to lose, especially at home, but sometimes you have to take negative results on the chin. Uxbridge came with a game plan, and it worked for them. We didn’t really break them down at all today. In the last 20 minutes or so, we made some substitutions. Dylan Gittens was given a chance to go down the line and this gave Javia Roberts a bit more freedom, and we had a couple of half chances at the end, and while the ball was bobbling about in the Uxbridge box, their defenders flung themselves in the way, and we needed to be more ruthless in front of goal; proactive if you like.
Today we were punished. I thought the goal was a sucker punch, and the game, for me, looked as though it was going to be 0-0, especially after the first 20 odd minutes.
In short, not good enough today. Hopefully we will be producing a much better performance on Monday against Hitchin.
I have sat down with the players and chatted to them about the way we played today. They’ve come back with a couple of home truths, so we know we are all in this together. We didn’t give 100%, and at times, as a team, we looked disjointed, which wasn’t the case on Tuesday.
