Bamford double helps Eagles' win

The Eagles beat Baldock Town in our latest pre-season game. A cooler evening meant a livelier game.
Josh Bamford equalised for Bedford on 24 minutes, cancelling Baldock's opening 16th minute goal.
The striker then put Bedford in front with a header on the half hour.
A couple of minutes later, the visitors equalised and the score at the break was 2-2.
Nobody could break the deadlock until the 76th minute, when triallist, Joel Mason ended a good move to give Bedford the win.

I'm pleased we finally got our first win of pre-season tonight, although we've played better in some of the other games and not won. I'm not one to read to much into pre-season results. I've had great pre-season campaigns in the past and started poorly and vice versa! I'm pleased with the win though as it always helps when you're trying to build a complete new team, which is what we are doing, and we are slowly getting all the right jigsaw pieces and slotting them together. We had, again, 20 players on show tonight, after making 8 changes at half time, and we still have players out injured or unavailable, so in general I'm happy with the personnel we have to start the season with. We had some triallists come into the squad tonight. I'd like to name them, but rather than alert other clubs, I'd like to sit down with one or two of them first and see if I can convince them to commit to Bedford Town. Hopefully we may have news on that front ahead of the game on Saturday v Kettering.

Lastly I'd just like to update everyone on Sean Brettell. He has had his operation which resulted in him having his leg pinned due to the extent of the four separate breaks in his leg. He is still in hospital and due out on Thursday. Speaking with his Dad tonight he is in a lot better spirits. His dad was kind enough to pop into the game tonight to thank everyone at the club - especially Ryan - for their help and support with Sean. I hope as a club we can think of some ways in the coming weeks to help support Sean through the next 10-12 weeks while he is starting the first steps on his recovery.
