Positive! Supportive!

When we register your child for our club we ask you to read, sign and discuss codes of conduct for both parents and players. This is to ensure we are all aware of expectations for participation and spectating the club games. We appreciate all the positive support we receive from spectators and the encouragement and sportsmanship we show to our teams and opponents. We also appreciate all the hard work our coaches do voluntarily to share our love of netball and hope this carries on to future generations.

However we must ask all spectators to ensure they are only positive and supportive to players and officials and ensure any coaching is left to the team coaches and not from the sidelines. Often the young people may focus on negative comments only, which will affect their play and umpiring. As you know we have a number of young umpires and newly qualified umpires and I would hate for them to be subject to criticism from others and therefore would not appreciate it from members or extended members of our club. We are aware of inconsistencies at times with umpiring but at that moment they are responsible for that game and we must respect this and discuss issues through an appropriate channel. If this occurs in the future, we will speak to any individuals associated with our club and discuss next steps on a one to one basis.

To also support further development we are planning a session on court etiquette for all junior members. We are also looking to organise a parental response where you will be able to ask the official a question regarding any rules or inconsistencies in advance of a meeting that we can feedback to.
We as Beechwood are well known as a family club who are supportive and caring. Please allow this reputation to continue to flourish and not allow negativity to destroy what we strive for - a love of netball, a drive to achieve and our Beechwood family.
Many thanks
Sharon - on behalf of Beechwood Committee
