The Nailers have secured a three month loan deal for Accrington Stanley's 18-year-old defender, Liam Goulding.

Liam is a former youth team captain who came through the ranks at Stanley and signed a professional contract with the League Two club in the summer.

He was a regular for the Reds in pre-season and has also been a substitute for the first team this season.

Accrington manager John Coleman said,"Liam will do a good job at Belper and the experience will be invaluable for him.

“This is a great chance for Liam to go out and get some games under his belt."

The arrival of Goulding comes as new Belper boss Jon Froggatt looks to bolster his struggling squad.

Froggatt and assistant Mark Ward have been put in permanent charge of the Nailers, having done the job on a temporary basis since the departure of Peter Duffield.

With Belper rooted to the bottom of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division, Froggatt is keen to bring in a few fresh faces.

"We're trying to strengthen and improve the squad," he said.

"We've got Richard Adams back from Goole, which is a massive plus for us. We will continue to look for that type of player.

"We're going through a rough patch but I hope the fans will stay patient.

"This is not our squad at the moment and we want the chance to bring in the players we want – but that will take time. It's not going to happen overnight."

Belper followed last Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Frickley Athletic with a 4-0 home loss to Stourbridge in midweek.
"The performance against Frickley was probably the worst since we took over," said Froggatt.

"We didn't deserve anything – and Tuesday was just as bad.

"Those two performances have been well below par and we need to buck up and play with a bit more pride."

Belper entertain second-placed Curzon Ashton tomorrow.

Froggatt (shoulder) and captain Steve Warne (hamstring) are injury doubts.

Midfielder Colin Marrison has left the club to join Duffield's Handsworth Parramore.
