After going behind for a third successive game, the Nailers stormed back to a second half lead with goals through Jon Froggatt and Evan Garnett (pictured), before conceding a goal minutes from time to cancel out a potential first three points.

Manager Peter Duffield was left delighted by the performance from his players, but felt equally disappointed by the late goal conceded.

"I thought we were excellent against United.

“We conceded two goals in the game and they were of our own doing.

“However, when you consider that we had two 18 year olds, two 22 year olds and a 25 year old in our back five, we have to be delighted by the way they played and their organisation in defence.

“The second half was pleasing for us, as I felt we more than matched them throughout the 45 minutes.

“United are a great side and it's a very difficult place to go and play your football."

He continued, "football is a harsh game at times and to hit the post late on and then concede directly after that is a bitter pill to swallow, because we could have put the game to bed before United's chance occurred."

"The attitude in the first three games has been first class and we know we cannot let this standard drop as every game will be difficult in he this league.

“We also know that if we maintain this attitude, our first win will not be too far away."

The Nailers home town striker came off the bench to score a goal, and Duffield is pleased with the strength in his squad, which so far has proved to make a huge impact in the first three games.

"It's brilliant that we can make changes throughout the game and know we can make a genuine difference.

“Kieran Wells came on in the first game and has scored a goal and Evan Garnett came on on Saturday and scored a goal.

“It's going to be important for us this season having these options.

“It's going to be a difficult season ahead."

The Nailers next fixture comes on Bank Holiday Monday with a home tie against local rivals Matlock Town, 3:00pm kick off.
