Punch on Watt infuriates Froggatt

The Nailers made it four points from three games with a draw at home to Marine at the Marston's Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Ashley Burbeary and Richard Adams were almost enough to earn Belper three points, before the visitors struck two minutes from time to earn a share of the spoils.

Player/manager Jon Froggatt was left feeling disappointed at only taking a point from the game, insisting his side did more than enough to earn the three points.

"It's a massive kick in the teeth to only come away with a point. We were the better side and we deserved to win the game.

"I'm sure that's the first time since I've taken over that we've come from a goal down to take the lead in a game and that is a huge credit to my players.

"Their mentality is good and they're beginning to believe in themselves a little bit more.

"Had this game been a month or so ago, we might have lost once we went a goal down, but we're starting to keep our composure in games and come back well."

Froggatt also voiced his disbelief at the officials performance, following a catalogue of incorrect calls, including an unpunished punch on Phil Watt (pictured).

"I was pretty horrified at the referee and the linesman's performances yesterday.

"We should have had a penalty from a handball - their 'keeper has hand balled the ball outside the box and doesn't get a card for it, and of course all three of them missed a punch on Phil inside the penalty area.

"His eye was an absolute state after the game."

The Nailers' last four games have produced two victories, one draw and one defeat in all competitions, and Froggatt is hoping his side is finding a new lease of life as the Christmas period beckons.

"Despite our frustration at not winning the game yesterday, we've actually had a decent run of late and it's having a good effect on the players moods.

"It's hard to smile when you're losing every week, but these last few weeks have proved quite successful for us and we really need to use this as a building block now.

"We can't afford to slip back in to losing form again."

The Nailers next fixture comes on Tuesday evening in the Doodson Sport League Cup, with a home tie to Ilkeston FC.
