We will be joined on this occasion by two more of the best and most sought-after acts on the after-dinner circuit. Our sporting guest will be Steve Daley and he will be joined by Billy Flywheel, who is a comedy talent not to be missed.
Steve Daley had a perfectly respectable career for eight years but when he joined Man City in 1979 many people were shocked by the sheer size of his transfer fee; the small matter of £1,437,500.
Football tongues up and down the country were sent into a wagging frenzy as Daley became the clubs first million-pound player.
The story goes that Malcolm Allison offered £400,000 and couldn’t believe it when his chairman Peter Swales did the deal for a million more although Swales always denied it. The deal was so bad, in fact that in 2001 the Observer listed Daley’s transfer as number one on their list of “The Ten Biggest Wastes of Money in Football History”.

Laughs galore are guaranteed from Billy Flywheel. This zany and most original of entertainers with his quick fire jokes, send-ups, impressions and bizarre happenings during his performance.
Billy has been acclaimed a comic genius in several publications including the ‘Stage’ newspaper, and has appeared on National television and has won several Comedy awards Nationwide. He has also appeared alongside such comedy greats as Bernard Manning, Frank Carson, Norman Collier and Johnnie Casson.
There is no doubt that this latest Sportsman’s Dinner will be a fabulous night packed with entertainment and humour. Tickets are priced at £35 per person. This includes a three course meal prepared on the premises by our very own Derbyshire Catering. The event starts at 7.00pm for dinner at 7.30pm.
