Belper Town's squad under new manager Jon Froggatt is starting to take shape ahead of tomorrow's FA Trophy tie at home to Histon.

The Nailers have snapped up midfielder Michael Towey (pictured) from Grantham Town, following the arrivals of defender Liam Goulding and winger Ashley Burbeary.

And centre-back Phil Watt, scorer of the goal was won Belper promotion last season, has returned to the club.

All will be available to face Southern League Premier Division strugglers Histon.

Burbeary returns after being unavailable for the 1-0 defeat at King's Lynn Town in midweek.

Goulding, on loan from League Two Accrington, was sent off in that match, for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, but is free to play this weekend.

"Liam has been outstanding in his first two matches," said Froggatt. "I know he got sent off but it was just one of those things. I really felt for him."

Belper claimed only their second win of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division campaign last Saturday, impressively beating high-flying Curzon Ashton 2-0.

They might have got something against King's Lynn but for a controversial penalty incident.

As Belper's Ian Ross was about to take the spot kick, referee Alistair Wilson called out to the opposition players, warning them not to encroach into the area.

This caused Ross to check his run-up and send a weak penalty against the outside of the post.

"I've never ever seen anything like it in my life," said Froggatt.

"The ref shouted 'wait' and Rossy thought he was talking to him, so he checked his run-up.

"There was massive confusion and we couldn't believe a retake wasn't awarded.

"It was a game-changing moment. It was 0-0 at the time and if we'd scored, I think we would have gone on to win it.

"We were bitterly disappointed but there was nothing wrong with our performance. The last two displays have been 100% better."

Captain Steve Warne may sit out tomorrow's game to allow him to rest a hamstring problem.
