United at full strength and looking to progress further ...

Belper United welcome Whaley Bridge FC to the Marston's Stadium Christchurch Meadow on Wednesday Night for this Derbyshire Senior Cup Round 2 clash.

Paul Postlethwaite has a virtually full squad to pick from with all the injuries and suspensions coming to an end, however, Joe Conkleton is unavailable due to work commitments.

Belper United got through to the 2nd round with a convincing win against higher opposition only on Bonfire Night. Dronfield Town from Northern Counties East League One were defeated 3-0 with goals coming from Adam Robley, Luke Crosby and Sam Vickers.

Whaley Bridge, from the Cheshire Football League, advanced to the second round of the Derbyshire Senior Challenge Cup with a 2-0 victory over local rivals Chapel Town. A goal in either half from Ray Dwolitka and Matt Brown ensured the home side’s safe passage in the competition.

Both sides currently sit 5th in there respective leagues and have met once before in the Derbyshire Senior Cup. In 2012 Whaley Bridge beat United 3-0 but the game was a lot tighter than the scoreline suggests. Whaley Bridges goals came from Lee Morris (2) and Rob Newton.

Paul Postlethwaite says 'I am very pleased with the current squad and there excellent attitude to the club. We have swapped and changed over this busy period without any problems and they haven't let the disappointment of the FA Vase defeat affect them. We have proved we can play against teams from a higher level and hopefully we can now push on from this.

It would be great to progress further in the Senior Cup, probably not a competition we can win but it's another great opportunity to play sides from higher leagues.'
