Under 11's Produce a Strong Second Half
After a slow start to the game the Braves came back strongly in the second half in what was an entertaining game.
After a good start to the season in which the Braves have won 3 of their first 4 games and a successful tournament at Butlins the boys were looking forward to their game against Myton. Unfortunately the Braves started the game slowly and conceded two early tries with most the boys still looking half asleep. After this poor start though Beverley started to play some good rugby with Thomas and Sam both starting to make good yards down the middle. A break from Kian in which he beat 2 or 3 players but was held up short led to Beverleys first try with the ball being passed quickly down the line to put Joe in at the corner. Myton came back though and broke down the pitch Oliver brilliantly chased them down to prevent a try but from the play the ball they went over.
On a hot day and with only 14 players Beverley could have tired in the second half but instead produced a great half conceding only one further try on the last play of the game. The defence in the second half was very strong led by Alex and Matty who both put in a number of try saving tackles. As the game went on Will and Archie started to gel at half back and with Charlie providing good ball from dummy half chances started to be created. When Beverley were awarded a penalty a quick tap saw Ryan force his way over. Beverley created a number of chances and piled the pressure on with Alex, John and Kian all going close. The third and final try though was scored by Harrison when he spotted a gap and went over from dummy half. Special mention to Ted who arrived at half time having come straight to the game from the North Sea Ferry and was a welcome fresh pair of legs at a key part of the game.
A good second half in which Beverley produced some entertaining rugby made up for the slow start. Kian was man of the match in recognition of his strong running and solid defence throughout the game.
