Bideford made it two wins in a row last night with a 4-1 victory over Bridgwater Town at Fairfax Park.

Goals from James Richards, Matt Andrew, Dan Western and Ben Watson gave Devon's Robins a comfortable win over the Robins of Somerset. Bideford started brightly and were ahead on seven minutes as Watson played in Richards who burst into the box and very calmly lifted the ball over Bridgwater goalkeeper Josh Hayward. Western almost made it two soon after as an effort with the outside of his foot went just wide. A strike from outside of the box on 18 minutes from Andrew was saved low to his left by Hayward but just 3 minutes later the ball again fell to Andrew 20 yards from goal and this time his strike beat the keeper and found the bottom right corner. A searching ball forward caused Hayward to race out of his area but his headed clearance was hooked back into the box by Kevin Squire for Western to collect, shift past a defender and slot home a third with 29 minutes gone. It was one way traffic. Watson had two attempts saved well by Hayward and Andrew had a shot blocked from 10 yards before the half time whistle blew to give the home side some respite.

After the break Bideford understandably took their foot of the gas somewhat but were still well in control for the first 15 minutes of the second period. On the hour mark, Watson broke into the penalty area from the left and poked the ball under Hayward to deservedly get himself on the score sheet and make it 4-0. Five minutes later Bridgwater managed to pull one back as George Sinnott crossed for Harry Horton to head past Josh Colwill at the back post. The host's tails were up for the next 10 minutes as the Bideford defence had to deal with a couple of dangerous balls into the box and Colwill was forced into saving a header from a corner kick.

But Bideford settled again quickly and had chances to increase the margin through Squire, Sam Stephens and finally Watson in injury time but he pulled his effort just past the post after a good break. All in all this was a very good away performance from Bideford who now look forward to hosting Bodmin Town this Saturday afternoon in the FA Cup Preliminary Round.
