Bideford recorded their best win of the season by coming from a goal down to bag all 3 points with a deserved victory away at 2nd placed Corby Town.

Falling behind to a second minute header didn't deter the Robins as they made it 3 matches unbeaten in the league with goals coming from Micky Purcell (his first for the club) and Ben Watson, who made it 3 goals in as many games for the reds.

The Steelmen took an early lead against Bideford at Steel Park thanks to Edi Appleton’s second goal in as many games.

But, from there, the performance of Wright’s men deteriorated as they allowed the visitors back into it before they secured all three points with just seven minutes left on the clock.

Corby still sit in second place but missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Poole Town, and manager Tommy Wright was disappointed as his team failed to build on their fine start to the game.

He piled the praise on the visitors and revealed he made his players listen to their unique celebrations in the dressing-room afterwards.
“You couldn’t have wished for a better start against a team who are struggling and who have conceded 50 goals,” he added.

“I have so much praise for them. They have had to drive for four hours in their cars, they have gone 1-0 down after two minutes and they have won a game of football away from home against the team who are second in the table.

“If you are their manager, you must be the proudest man. They were singing karaoke in the dressing-room and I opened up our door so our boys could listen to Bideford singing One Direction and Ed Sheeran to them.”

Chances were hard to come by in the first half but Watson blazed an effort over the bar while Corby’s Spencer Weir-Daley missed from a matter of yards. New signing Jordan Charran looked threatening on the wing for Biddy in his first start before being replaced by Craig Veal in the second half.

Bideford looked to Dan Tapp as the focal point of their attacking play, with the centre-back again playing as a targetman, and he forced goalkeeper Paul Walker into a brilliant save.

The equaliser came as Parcell smashed home from Sean Downing’s flick-on. With momentum in their favour, Bideford continued to attack and displayed why they are one of the league’s leading scorers 10 minutes from time when Watson chipped the ball over the keeper in clinical style after racing through one-on-one.
