Bideford surrendered a two goal lead to lose 4-2 at Didcot Town on Saturday in the Southern League Division One S&W.

Ben Watson broke away and finished well from the edge of the box to give Bideford the lead on nine minutes and Ian Sampson doubled the advantage with 16 gone, sweeping home a low ball into the box. A mistake from Josh Colwill allowed Didcot back into the game as he allowed Jack Powell's speculative shot to escape his grasp and cross the line. Kevin Squire had a good chance to restore the two goal margin but he fired Matt Andrew's cross over the bar before Didcot almost levelled when Sam Barder's shot rebounded off the crossbar at the other end.

The home side were on terms right on half time but not without controversy. Kai Fisher, under the new laws was incorrectly dismissed when he was adjudged to have brought down Ben Whitehead in the box. Whitehead himself dispatched the spot kick to send the sides in level at half time.

With the man advantage Didcot took control in the second half as Whitehead struck the crossbar and Colwill saved well from Barder. It was Barder who eventually did put Didcot in front on 71 minutes heading in a Whitehead cross and with five minutes remaining Whitehead was again the provider as substitute Taylor Janes beat Colwill from close range.

Andy Ballard was sent off for Didcot right at the end but it was the earlier dismissal of Fisher that was the key moment in this game as Bideford made the long journey back from Oxfordshire with a real sense of injustice.
